ALTERED NATIVES

Essaouira is a microtonal piece straight out of the Brennan songbook. It works as a short suite that begins with woodwind and brass tone clusters invoking the eerie sounds of the Sirocco wind blowing out of the Sahara (at least that’s what it sound like to me). The piece later continues with flute (Bastiaan) and drums (Salero) solos before the whole band joins in for a final collective groove.
